Submit your response to this prompt HERE for entry into our Youth Abolition Art Slam, a friendly youth performing arts competition offering a cash prizes of $100-300! Rappers, dancers, actors, poets, singers, comics and all creatives who perform are invited! This slam invites youth to share their stories and truths as well as their dreams and visions for a world free of state violence. The theme is FREEDOM, which can interpreted widely by the artist(s)! All contestants must use this form to submit their response and meet the following criteria:
One entry per person or group (a group is considered a band or a collective)
Participants must be 18 years of age or under
Length of performance must be no more than 7 minutes
You don't have to use the prompt's exact words, but your piece should follow the theme of abolition or freedom (abolition means: the end to policing and state violence, and the creation of communities where we can heal, be free, and thrive on our own. Freedom can be defined and interpreted widely).
Be creative! You're welcome to be as literal or as abstract as you'd like. Share the dreams and feelings that you have for a world free of police — a world where we’re all truly free.

Once we've determined that your piece meets this criteria, we'll send notification by email that you've been selected to proceed to the next round: live performances. The Battle Round of live performances will occur at an open community event on Fri, 3/31 from 6-8pm at Parable, Tacoma. You must be available to participate in the Battle Round in order to enter the competition for a cash prize. This round will include a community panel of judges and a live People’s Vote to determine the winners.
